Privacy policy

Who is responsible

QueryDog is made by Moose Multimedia, in the Netherlands. Moose Multimedia is the controller, in the words of the GDPR, for the data this policy is about. For every question about it, and for every request: info@querydog.nl.

The app

We do not receive what you do in QueryDog. The app has no server of ours to report to, and holds no code for analytics, advertising or crash reports to us.

What is kept on your device

• Your connections: name, host, port, user name and settings.
• Passwords, passphrases, private SSH keys and the API key of Ploi, in the Keychain of the device.
• The query log: the last 500 statements the app ran, with the time and the connection.
• The host keys of SSH servers you connected to, and your preferences.

Deleting the app deletes what it keeps on that device. What is in the Keychain or in iCloud, you remove there.

Where data goes

Your own servers

The app connects to the database and SSH servers you enter, and sends them what you ask it to. Nothing of that passes through us.

iCloud, of Apple

With sync on, your connections, the names and public halves of your SSH keys, the query log and your preferences are kept in the private database of your own iCloud account, in encrypted fields. Passwords and passphrases travel through iCloud Keychain. Private SSH keys are never sent. We cannot see any of it. Sync is switched off under Settings › iCloud.

The App Store, of Apple

The purchase is made with Apple. The app asks the App Store whether it was made. We get no name, address or payment details of who bought.

Ploi

Only when you link a Ploi account yourself. The app then talks to Ploi with your API key, to read your servers and databases and to make what you ask for. Ploi's privacy policy applies to what Ploi keeps.

What Apple shares with us

Apple shows developers figures about their apps: numbers of downloads and sales per country, and crash reports of people who chose to share those with developers. None of it says who you are.

If you test a version through TestFlight, Apple shares with us what TestFlight collects: crash reports and the feedback you send, with your e-mail address when you were invited by it.

This site

The site sets no cookies, and has no analytics and no trackers. Every file of a page comes from our own server: no fonts, scripts or images from others. That is why there is no cookie banner.

The launch message

You can leave your e-mail address to get one message when QueryDog is in the App Store.

What we keep

Your e-mail address, the language of the page you signed up on, and the moments of signing up and confirming.

What for

To send you that one message, and before it the message in which you confirm. For nothing else, and we give the address to nobody but the mail service named below.

On what ground

Your consent, which you give by confirming and can withdraw at any moment.

For how long

Until the launch message has been sent: then every address is deleted. An address that is not confirmed is deleted after seven days.

Deleting it sooner

Every message from us has a link that deletes your address at once. Or write to info@querydog.nl.

Sending the messages

The messages are sent by Postmark, a service of ActiveCampaign, LLC in the United States. Postmark receives your address and the text of the message, and works on our instructions under a data processing agreement. The messages are plain text, and we have Postmark's tracking of opens and clicks switched off. Postmark keeps a record of a sent message for 45 days.

Against misuse of the form

To limit the number of sign-ups from one place, the server keeps a keyed hash of the IP address a sign-up came from, not the address itself, for an hour. It is kept apart from the e-mail addresses.

The server

The site is on a server of Leaseweb, in the Netherlands. As every web server does, it writes each request in a log: the IP address, the time, the page and the browser. We look at the log when something is wrong. It is kept for 14 days.

When you write to us

We keep your e-mail for as long as it takes to answer you and to see the matter through, and for two years at most.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. You can withdraw your consent, and object to what we do with your data. Write to info@querydog.nl; you have an answer within a month.

If you think we handle your data wrongly, tell us. You can also complain to the supervisor: in the Netherlands the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

When the app or the site starts to do something else with data, this page says so before it does, with the date at the top.
